THE NUTS AND BOLTS:
Think back to your first start line. Think back to the night before. You didn’t sleep very well, wondering if you would miss your alarm. You woke with a start, you tried to eat something. You made your way to the race venue. You checked your watch a thousand times wondering if you would miss the lineup when you realized you forgot your safety pins. You rushed to the info table, then headed to the start line. Your heart was pumping, you went over your race plan in your head again and again, and when the announcer asked “Who is racing for the FIRST time today?” you raised your hand and quickly put it back down. The countdown began and off you went…running, jogging, walking - finding YOUR perfect pace in the midst of the adrenaline.
You remember it? I do, and then the only other part I remember is the finish line - seeing that arch in front of me and pushing with every fiber of my being to get there because #thefinishlineisjustthebeginning. It’s why I put my life, sweat, and tears into Mini Mermaids and Young Tritons. Something changes when you get that first medal around your neck. It's a symbol of your hard work, your focus, your struggle and your triumph. In that moment, you hear in the quiet of your heart “I can do anything”. This is why I continue to race, to chase that feeling. To cross a finish line and remind myself that I am in fact capable of more than I realize.
For every child who shows up for six weeks to learn about their worth and value, we give them a medal so that THEY can cross their own finish line and know - they can do more than they ever dreamed. But we can't get to the finish line alone, we need you to help us. For every two dollars you donate, we can buy a medal. Your generosity means kids get that very same feeling you did when you crossed your finish line.
You In? I am in too. We need you to DONATE $10, it's as easy as textingm4m to 717-77 which helps us achieve our goal of giving out 5000 medals to our 5000 Mini Mermaid and Young Tritons for the coming school year.
I’ve got to go run (follow my progress on our Facebook Page) because I’m committed to running a 5k all 10 days of this campaign, you donate, and then go for a run too - and smile when you know you’ve helped us get 5000 kids to their finish lines.
